Quick & simple fixes to give your home a fresh look

Not getting much feedback from buyers? If you’re wondering why buyers aren’t interested, you might want to consider giving your space a face-lift. Many times, simple changes like removing a piece of furniture from a smaller room or adding colorful pillows to a chair can make a big difference.

If you think your home needs a transformation, start with rearranging things. First, see if you need to scale back on the amount of furniture in each room. If a room seems cramped, buyers can’t appreciate its actual size. Additionally, it’s helpful to create a focal point to grab buyers’ attention and arrange furniture so each room flows into the next. If your decorating seems lackluster, try adding color by painting a room or accessorizing with a colorful throw or a bright vase. Lastly, it’s important to set the scene for buyers. Creating vignettes throughout your house—like setting the dining room table or having logs in the fireplace—can help buyers picture themselves living there.  For more home staging tips, click here.

  1. Always paint small rooms lighter colors. This will create an illusion of more space. Staging your home with the dinner table set, fruit arranged on the counter, music for ambiance, candles burning for light and aroma, lamps and ceiling fans on, the fireplace going…everything clean and sparkling, these will all help the buyer “feel” your home. Clean out the clutter. Pack it up – take it out of the house. You can unpack it when you move and have more space. Be sure to clean out the closets and don’t leave them stuffed to the brim with items falling out of the doors when opened. The little things make a BIG difference.. !
