Caring for the environment can sometimes seem like a ton of extra work. A lot of the advice given adds many minutes to an already overscheduled day, but there are easy things you can do to care for the earth.
Now that warmer weather has returned, we want to throw open our windows and enjoy the fresh breeze. Just make sure you turn off the heat when you open the windows to avoid a major waste of energy. If your second freezer or fridge isn’t full, unplug it—it’s wasting energy and money. Dust your lightbulbs because clean bulbs provide more light for the money. Also, consider replacing your incandescent bulbs with compact fluorescents for a savings of up to 75%. The fluorescent bulbs last up to 10 times longer. Finally, when you wash your spring clothes and linens, adjust the water level to match the load, and whenever possible, use cold water. These few minor changes can make a big dent in your energy consumption. Do your wallet and the planet a favor and pay attention to the details. For more ideas about easy green living, click here.
